A quiet relief from the fun, but very loud nightlife of karaoke and bars. Food was good as we had the fish (cooked nicely in garlic butter sauce) and chuletas kan kan (fried pork). It is challenging to find parking anywhere near this area on a Friday night so take the first spot you see!

We visited Pelican’s with a party of four and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The atmosphere and decor are very nice, which initially gave us high expectations. However, the service was extremely poor. One of our meals was incorrect, we ordered a carnivore omelet but received a vegetarian omelet instead. By the time the correct dish arrived, everyone else had already finished eating, leaving our guest waiting about 20 minutes for their meal. We also asked multiple times for more salsa, which came in a small 1 oz cup with our chips - see picture. We were ignored 3 times over the course of about 15 minutes. When the waitress finally came over and we asked the 4th time about the salsa, she asked which bill she should add the refill to. At that point, we declined since most of the chips had already been eaten. We were honestly surprised that after the missing and delayed meal, there was no effort to accommodate us, not even a complimentary condiment. The food itself was mediocre at best. Nothing came out hot, only slightly warm. The bacon was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out and reheated. Overall, while the space is attractive, the service is unacceptable and the food quality does not make up for it.

The restaurant itself is quite funky and air-conditioned, which makes it a nice escape from the heat. The service was great, although we were almost the only ones there. The coffees and mojitos were excellent. Unfortunately, my eggs Benedict was one of the most underwhelming I’ve ever had. The house fries were tasty and the only real saving grace, though they’re not exactly a traditional accompaniment to eggs Benedict. I chose Canadian bacon, but what arrived looked more like a slice of processed meat, with a minuscule amount of hollandaise. I’ve never seen bacon presented as a salami-style log before. What was odd is that they clearly had streaky bacon on hand, as the Bloody Mary was garnished with a slice. Fortunately for my husband, his Cuban Benedict looked much better.

We've been back 3 times now, breakfast on the weekends only, but worth the wait. Be sure to check out the back room is a nice room for larger or small groups.
